My Journey:
From Dreamer to Author
Hi, I’m Amber Kay—an author, storyteller, and someone who has always found comfort in books, even before I understood what being a writer really meant.
My love for reading started early, and a lot of that is because of my mom. She’s the one who first introduced me to novels and made reading feel like something magical instead of just a hobby. I still remember her encouraging me to pick up new books, talking to me about the stories we read, and always making space for imagination in our home. She also played a huge role in my writing journey without even realizing it. When I was younger, I would write little stories all the time, and she was always the first person to listen, read them, and encourage me to keep going. That support shaped me more than I can put into words.
Over time, those small stories turned into something deeper. Writing became my way of expressing myself, especially when I didn’t quite have the words for everything I was feeling. I’ve always been drawn to creativity in different forms, whether that’s reading, writing, painting, or simply observing the world around me and letting my imagination build something new from it.
Outside of writing, I’m a pretty simple person. I love quiet moments, staying home, reading on my Kindle, and spending time with my kitten. I also find a lot of inspiration in everyday life—small conversations, emotions people don’t always say out loud, and the kind of moments that stay with you long after they pass.
For me, writing isn’t just about storytelling. It’s about connection. It’s about taking pieces of real emotion and turning them into something others can feel and relate to. I don’t think I ever really “decided” to become a writer. It just slowly became a part of who I am.
I’m so grateful you’re here, taking the time to get to know me and my work. It means more than I can say, and I hope my stories give you something that lingers with you long after you’ve finished reading.
